WDC Exploration & Wells
Celebrates a Safety Milestone
We are thrilled to announce that WDC has worked one year (650,000+ hours) without a lost time injury. Additionally, our crews have worked over 150,000 consecutive hours in 2009 without a recordable injury.
This milestone has been achieved because safety at WDC is the responsibility of every employee. We have developed a safety program unmatched in the environmental drilling industry and the results are apparent. Over the past several years we have implemented multiple programs that have made a direct impact on our safe work practices including:
1. Two full time safety coordinators who oversee employee training and conduct site and equipment audits.
2. Pre-employment ergonomic screening to match applicants to specific job duties.
3. Increased driver qualifications and driver training.
4. Hand injury prevention program.
5. Employee task training for all WDC operated equipment.
6. Active claims management process.
7. Root cause analysis based incident investigation process.
8. Near miss reporting and investigation program.
We have created a safety culture within WDC that has zero accidents as its fundamental goal. The culture permeates throughout our company, from the president attending weekly safety briefings to the field crews who actively participate in the daily tailgate safety meetings. All WDC employees are committed to the goal of zero accidents.
WDC’s safety department works with our consultant partners to develop safety plans to meet the needs of the client. From highly visible retail petroleum sites, to geotechnical projects our safety standards remain the same. Every site is treated to our exacting internal standards.
Help us celebrate by congratulating our field crew on your next job. Ask the crew members how they are keeping the job site safe for themselves, owners, consultants and the public. Help us continue drilling safely by providing us input in your daily observations as we move forward to a year of zero recordable incidents and two years of zero lost time injuries.
Best regards,
